I have AT&T and the service is terrible. I cannot get a signal in my house on the North Shore & most places in my yard. Places on Oahu where I can get a signal I have problems with dropped calls. The only reason I am with AT&T is because I have an iPhone and I am hoping that in the near future iPhone users will be able to go with another company.
And just rumored... Verizon iPhone due in Q3 2010!
I had at&t for a several years. when my contract was up, i switched carriers to verizon. no complaints here. even some of the areas where at&t would drop calls, verizon still catches. i also heard that sprint is good.
at&t has had service issues w/ the iphone specifically. i remember seeing it all over facebook at one time. and they only refunded you if you would call in. several of my coworkers said they were told by reps to turn off certain network access and the phone would work.
This post is pretty old so I'm sure you've worked it out by now but I wanted to share this just in case. We also live on the north shore & get no reception with at&t. But, my nephew has been visiting & we were shocked when his sprint cell phone worked EVERYWHERE! Even Waimea Bay which is a notorious black hole for cell reception. I took a conference call on his phone there and had 5 bars the whole time!!! People were literally staring and some even asked how I was getting service there. I'm going to switch ASAP. He has a Motorola Photon with 4g lite. Not the new model that's soon to be released but it works like a charm all along the NS ;~)
Sprint for 7 years. No one is really better than others. But, most towers are set up to accommodate Honolulu area, according to Sprint..
