Can anyone recommend a good general contractor for a home addition I'm thinking of doing? I'm adding a bedroom and family room to the side of the house.

I don't think you can put the words "good" and "contractor" in the same sentence, but try doing it yourself. Save alot $$$. Builders usually charge about 30% markup. The building dept is happy to help you with getting started. Bid out and hire your own subs/trades. You will feel more satisfied with the end project vs. fighting a builder with timelines/details/money. Marion has 14% unemployment and people would love to come and work on your project. Good luck.

Contact the Marion County Builders Association.
They will be happy to recommend a reputable contractor. The contractor will pull permits, provide qualified plans needed to pull permits, etc.
Keep in mind that a building estimate is just that, an estimate, and going over budget is not uncommon, so build at least an extra 10% into your budget for just that.
I have been working in this area for 20 years as an interior designer, and have worked with many builders and contractors, imho this is the best route to pursue.
Also, dont be afraid to ask for references, and call the BBB to check their ratings, very important!
