thank you all for the infos. i live in forest oaks, very quiet & safe. and im kinda looking for something similar..not an apartment or condo. would like @ least 1 acre lot. found a house in Weirsdale that looks nice with lots of land. anybody familiar with that area? it's close to lake weir. my FL license expired 5 years ago & now I have to reapply for endorsement. so it may take few months to do it.

The Lake Weir area has some beautiful homes and some not-so-great homes. All depends on which area it is in.

Lots of healthcare in N.Ctrl FL, so you'll have it better than most. Our unemployment is very high in Marion County.

Many nice houses for sale, as the market is low.

Weirsdale is OK, but the land is being sold for development left and right, just like in Ocala. However, due to the economy, they'll take a while to build. I have friend who has lived there 30 years and they are moving out, due to all of the development and changes.

Palm Coast-- full of crime. Used to be a nice city. Be careful.

I also can't believe you couldn't find a house in Ocala with everything that is for sale here. Not liking the city is another matter.
