Since you are from New England, HONESTLY-how do you like it down there?

I'm probably the wrong person to ask since I came here for different reasons than because I wanted to. Family. Don't plan on staying.

I am going right back up to cold weather, real forests, real grass (the weeds they call grass here - I refuse to consider it real grass in any meaningful way), and of course hills/mountains. The state is flat as a board and quite frankly, it's driving me stir crazy. I liken almost the entire state to being one gigantic, flat, sandbar. Different strokes for different folks. I've seen more than enough to satisfy my curiosity.

There are certainly an abundant quantity of things to "do," in FL, but it just so happens that none of those things really appeal to me. I'm into nature and outdoor related activities, and this state just is not conducive to that kind of activity.

---------------

I noticed you said you were considering New Mexico at one point but I think you remarked something about the job market. A lot of people here complain about the job market, and the "economy" in general... but it doesn't seem as bad as people make it out to be (just my opinion). Not really my area of knowledge... but between NM and Ocala, I think you'd have more opportunities in Ocala, and Florida, in general.

Incidentally, you had asked about the bugs.... After learning that NM was your first choice, it got me thinking that you would probably find Florida's creatures to be no problem at all, in comparison.

I don't know that I would cross my "first pick" off the list so easily as you did, just because the job market seemed less plentiful. I leave that to you, though. I'd put some thought into NM again, but at this juncture, you probably made your peace with that not happening.

Ocala is a nice area for retired ppl top of the world which is on highway200 has a lot to offer including Golf and shopping till you drop , the only problem you have in the area is traffic and that is during rush hours apart fro that you will love Ocala as there is a lot to do.
