I am planning to take my 84-year old stepmother to Cedar Key for 2-3 days in November. She picked the place;neither of us have ever been there but it's a nice short drive from Jacksonville. From what I can gather, the only accessible
lodging is Nature's Landing, which has an elevator.
Does anyone have any experience with NL or any recommendations for dining?
It looks like we'll be eating breakfast out since NL is a condo, no restaurant. ANY info really appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Very interesting place .. but mostly walking to see it .. be sure to see salt dishes for processing salt from the sea ... good food ... pencils made there from the cedar .... if chance, take boat trip out to some of the islands (safe, interesting )

We live about 40 minutes from Cedar Key. I go a few time a month. There is a small public "beach" with playground and bathrooms. The boat trips are great, but take sun screen. We have found lots of sand dollars by one of the islands. We have also had dolphins swim up to us when we stayed at Fennemore Inn. I love the clam chowder at Tony's restaurant. It was voted the world's best

We also like eating at Frogs (I think that is the name) - but it is upstairs. Many of the restaurants and shops on the main strip have stairs.

Went there for July 4. Small beach, but the food and music in the adjacent park was good. Good seafood at Tony's. Plenty of kayak choices. Water was 88 degrees that day.

First visit to Cedar Key mid February, loved it. Very remote and quaint. Tony's was by far the best place we found to eat. Sunset Isle Campground has good barbecue. Walmart is 40 miles away so take what you need. It is a fishing village that farms clams and etc. Natures paradise. Walking or golf carts are the means of travel around the island. Very interesting place to leave the world behind. The People are very friendly. Can't wait to return. PJP

Cedar Key will put one in mind of Cape Cod. Quaint and the art festival is nice. It might be a little trying for your grandmother though. Not a lot of elevators, that I know of. Lots and lots of stairs.
