Does anyone know if it is possible to bike on the road from Belleview to Ocala? Is there a bike lane? Is it safe for a female to do this in the AM at 6A and PM around 7:30P or 8P? I am not in the area but will be moving there at the end of the month. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm familiar with parts of Belleview. I don't recall seeing any bicycle lanes on the roads there. I don't think any areas are safe for females alone to bicycle when it's dark out any more. There are just too many dangerous people out there. You really need a car for getting around when it's dark.

That is definately not a "bike friendly" area. I have to assume you are referring to the Hwy 441/301 corridor.

Default biking from Belleview to Ocala

Agree with the above posters. Would never attempt to bike this or any similar route from Belleview to Ocala. Few bike lanes; too many distracted, and/or drunk drivers; too many creeps out there looking for their next victim; too many elderly drivers with impaired vision; and too many impatient drivers who are in a big hurry, and think the speed limit, or anything close to same, just doesn't apply to them. You'll get hit by some driver who won't even stop to render assistance because they are in such a hurry or just plain did not see you. Would not even attempt this as a male, and/or with other bikers. Just too dangerous.

There are very few "safe" areas for biking around Ocala for the same reasons as cited above. I've searched outlying roads, and even those with dedicated bike lanes and would never attempt to ride same. Guess I'm stuck riding on boring bicycle trails or round and round my residential community.
