I have been checking this post hoping to hear some good news since it was posted. So very sad. I did read an article about this in the Ocala Star Banner a couple of weeks ago; but have not read anything since then.

There is a gathering of Rainbow People in the Ocala for area right now, they are nomadic and will move soon to camp elsewhere. Your son may have hooked up with them, they wilderness camp without electricity also the Ocala For area is known for cell dead spots. Call LCSO and ask them to check with the Rainbows...good luck

The place is huge and can be very creepy once away from the main roads. I can well see dangerous people squatting there. A forest like that can hide a lot. It's my understanding the Rainbow People do not live there as do the so-called hippie squatters. After this man going missing, I wouldn't even want to drive through that Forest on one of it's main roads, especially knowing weird people are living there. I keep thinking of the movie "Deliverance."
