Greetings. I'm looking to move to Citrus County in the near future, mainly looking at towns (Inverness, Hernando, Citrus Springs, etc.) along the Withlacoochee Trail since I do a lot of cycling. Looking at other forums, the opinions of these areas are generally positive. A concern of mine is when I check the 'For the Record' section of the Citrus County newspaper online, there seems to be a rather high number of burglaries, thefts, break-ins, etc. reported, nearly on an everyday basis. Is this as big a problem in the county as it may seem at first glance? Hopefully this is not a serious issue. I've been in the area before and always thought it would be a nice place to retire.
Thanks all.

A lot of that stuff in the chronicle IMO is just inter-family," my brother I don't like broke in and stole my chain saw type crime". I think a better barometer is the Sheriff's website and it suprises me how few people are locked up on any given day, and it's not for lack of enforcement, I've never lived in a place where I've seen so many Sheriff's and FHP patrol cars.

If I leave home and forget to lock the house or the tool shed, I'm not turning around, I'm not worried about it.
