I do love this time of the year, although it seems everything is jammed into 2 or 3 weekends. It does make it hard to pick and choose. We did our usual Mc Intosh and Micanopy this year. Mc Intosh was especially memorable this year for the full moon. We usually get up early, eat breakfast, and then mosey on up before sunrise. I have driven that route hundreds of times, but the moon over the horse pastures gave it a whole 'nother look. Found a stained glass hummingbird in Mc Intosh that I couldn't live without, and a stunning stained glass table lamp in Micanopy that will be a family piece for generations to come. We found other goodies and lots of inspiration for projects. We used to make the FAFO, but did not want to deal with downtown parking. I think Dunnellon and Cedar Key also had their festivals as well. Sooooo.... How was your weekend and did you go to any festivals?

That sounds like so much fun! Is there something special about this time of year? Is it "festival time" or something? You got me thinking...how are the holidays celebrated in your area? Any special "don't miss" events/activities? Thanks!

Not sure of the exact reason, but once October comes, it seems that every town and organization has something planned. It is the time of the year when the heat and humidity finally starts to ease up a bit and glorious cool and/or dry weather invigorates the area. The snowbirds are only beginning to arrive, the holidays are not yet inundating the sores and airwaves, the children have been in school long enough to [i]almost[i] make the parents wistful for their company, and summer vacations have ended. The only problem is that you can't possibly make them all. From art to concerts, the Food and Wine festival at Epcot, seafood and craft festivals, chili cook-offs, and car shows.....it can be overwhelming. I'm not complaining, tho.

The city of Ocala does a Light Up Ocala deal on the downtown square every year that is quite quaint and popular. This year they will install an imitation ice rink so that regardless of weather, you can put on a pair of skates and fall on your keister like everyone else. It runs through December. There is also a Christmas parade, but I have never gone.
