It gets hot in NY in Jul and Aug too, actually, much hotter. These past three months I had Ocala/Dunnellon and NY weather displayed together on my home page - NY was on oaverage 10 degree hotter and more humid than Ocala. As far as big cockroaches go...lol

And if the County Comissioners get rid of all those fees and restrictive regulations and focus exclusively on crime reduction, Ocala may just become a mecca a very attractive magnet.

Check into some of the metal garage buildings you can have put up. I own a small business and came close to doing that. Depends on what your budget is. Ocala prices are going up so if you look north or south central you may find better deals on land. Good Luck

Thanks for the good luck. I've got land. And you're right, prices are going up, as well as activity in building. I'm looking at ways to get things going on a modest budget. Wonder if there's a way to turn a pre-fab portable shed or a shell first into a utility building for tools, equipment and shopwork, then get a certificate of occupancy and upgrade it. it's nice that retiring executives, bankers, and etc can order mansions built - that's great, but for an organic farmer who wants to grow real food, the budget options are somewhat more modest. Hopefully, rural locations are not as stictly enforced to give some leeway to "pioneers"

You won't get a CO on a utility building like in your example, but if you are far enough away from the road and neighbors you could do so unofficially. I did that several years ago by attaching a large utility shed to a mobile home and when I was finished, you would have thought it was part of the original home. It might be more difficult to do so today.

yeah, today the gov powers that be want you to pay a thousand different fees and hire a crook with two left hands and a license to overcharge. Then you become indebted to the bank for life and much worse off and less safe than if you'd built it yourself.

Thanks for the great advice, though, really appreciate it.
