We're moving to fl this summer and we checked Stone Creek out a few weeks ago. Liked what we seen but wanted to get feedback from others who live there or know about Stone Creek...I noticed there is an airport nearby, does this cause a noise problem at Stone Creek? Any other issues about Stone Creek you would be willing to share are greatly appreciated...

The Ocala airport doesn't have big enough airplane traffic for you to be concerned with. Mostly small airplanes and no commercial traffic. Stone Creek is far enough away to not worry about constant air traffic overhead.

I have lived in Stone Creek for 5 years. The airplane noise, from low flying planes, is something you will notice 4-5 times a day. However, Stone Creek is not a quiet environment. Our circle has 50 homes. Each home is getting the lawn mowed once a week. That means that 7+ homes a day x 30 minutes to mow= 3+ hours a day you may hear lawn mowers. The real noise issue is with A/C pumps. It is 90 degrees 6 months of the year. Everyone has the A/C cranking, which means that if you go outside you will hear a loud "hum" pervading the neighborhood. Try sleeping when your neighbor's A/C pump (Which in my area is 15 feet from the bedroom) cycles on/off all night. My advice is to get a premium and/or corner lot.

Other than that Stone Creek has many excellent benefits. The amenities are fabulous, the houses are fairly well built, and there are plenty of things to do with clubs and activities. Shopping and Medical are nearby and Tampa/Orlando are both just an hour away.

Look at Top of the World which is next door. More convent to shopping (rt 200 & 90th st, 2 small strip centers) by golf cart. Both share the Culture Center and educational classes(80th av & 80 st), but it can not be reached by golf cart from Stone Creek. Can be from OTOW.
I have seen several small sink holes at Stone Creek. No damage to homes.
I am at OTOW and do not hear outside A/C noise when inside. I do here the A/C when I am outside but it does not bother me. Location of your and your neighbors patio is important if you want privacy.
No airport noise, but probably 2 miles father a way from me. I would not worry about the airport. If it expands might have a little noise. You can have lunch at the airport. I did not hear the planes when I had lunch there.
I think the OTOW builder is better. The OTOW builder has been here from about 1985 and will probably be here for years to come. I think this is a plus. He has to think long term.
OTOW has an indoor pool and the Candler pool is heated in the winter.
OTOW should be looked at as several different communities as services vary so pay close attention to your salespersons prestation.

Maybe a bit off topic, but was just there last weekend covering a Golf Scramble. Video and pictures from the Stone Creek golf course here

It seemed like a nice place, just out on an "island" way out in nowhere.
