Thanks for anyone who would care to shoot some candor and advice my way. I am a 51 year old single female, in relatively good health, looking to RETURN to Florida. I left 15 years ago to raise my children "Up North" in a more familiar, safer environment with them attending same school and even had same teachers I had while growing up here. One's now in college and the other is now graduating soon.
However, the cold and lack of things to do here in general (Steubenville, Ohio area) are working on me. I feel that I'd like to enjoy whatever time I have left in a warmer and busier place. Heck, maybe even meet someone too. I think it's easier to grow old here with nothing to do but sit and watch TV. I'd like to rejoin society and do things. I currently work in Accounts Receivable and work at home. If I can't get a transfer I may just up and leave. I do see many jobs in the field open. My question to you all is where would you recommend moving to in FL? I lived 10 years in St Cloud, Kissimmee and Cocoa prior. Not hot on returning to Osceola co. at all. My means are modest but I am a hard worker and expect to work 2 jobs. I like Ocala; Gainesville looks good as well as Jax. Any advice would be well appreciated! Thank you all.

Both Gainesville and Jacksonville are going to have a much higher cost of living than Ocala.

Thanks. Been checking the sites out on Rentjungle and Hotpads. I really like Cedar Key but finding a job would be difficult that pays anything without a drive.

I lived in Fl 30+ years, almost 25 of those years in Gainesville. Unless you work for the school system, county/state govt., or have advanced nursing and/or other medical training, Gville can be a challenging place.
I moved back to New England a few years ago, am very happy i did, and although i still own a home on the Santa Fe River nw of Gville, i doubt i'll ever spend more than a few weeks there.
Best of luck to you.
