How are the Silver Spring Shores and the Marion Oaks areas of Marion County? There are no HOAs, so that's a plus.

Lots of crime and trashy people. Marion Oaks does have a homeowner's association. I wouldn't live in either of them and refused to look at houses in there when I was purchasing rental properties.

Some areas of Silver Springs Shores are nice. The OP needs a local Realtor and don't be afraid to ask questions.

In the Silver Springs Shores area:
  • You'll want to either look north of Maricamp but west of Pine, or, immediately off of Baseline but at least 1 mile south of the landfill. A majority of the other sections are inundated with hood-rats.
In the Marion Oaks area:
  • The section just below Oak Run isn't too bad, and has closer access to shopping and hospitals. The Timberwalk area (adjacent to Marion Oaks) is a fairly decent little community as well.

@ the OP: Just note that realtors cannot discuss demographics and crime.

I agree with that statement. I think that a realtor can better help the OP in his search since he is not as familiar with the area.

between the two i would pick Silver Springs Shores.
A lot of the shores is not built up, so very rural.
