Hi all,

I am in the process of separating from my husband and I have 3 younger children; one on the Autism spectrum. He is currently in the 4th grade. With the separation I am looking to move from Seminole County and to an area I am hoping will be cheaper as I have been a stay at home mom for 12 years and will need some time adjusting to working and taking care of the children's primary financial needs.

I have been looking at rentals in Ocala and have found a few that are affordable for me. However, I wanted to know how the ASD programs are in Ocala and Marion County in general. I would also like to know how it is for Special Needs in general as I have a toddler with developmental delays and will be needing a Spec Needs Pre-K come fall.

Anyone have any ideas how good the programs are? My son is currently in a self-contained ASD classroom and spends a short amount of time each day with his neurotypical peers - so we are beginning to work toward inclusion.

I am not afraid to advocate for what he needs, as the district must meet those needs. But certainly if a good program with excellent teachers and support staff (ie speech pathologist, school psychologist...) are already in place, that is the better route to travel.

Please share your experiences on the districts, specific schools and the staff, if you will. Also local pediatricians and specialists would be awesome as well. I would greatly appreciate it

Thank you in advance!!
