Is there some kind of senior services that take the disabled to drs appointments and maybe food shopping? Do they service those living outside the city limits? How can I locate them? What is the name of the organization? Thanks in advance.

The person I'm asking about lives a few miles off 40 toward Fort McCoy. It's outside Ocala city limits. Her daughter has been taking her but her daughter moved out of state. A neighbor has taken her shopping a few times but she needs a regular service of some kind. I'm too far away to be of help to her. She doesn't use a computer. This is why I am asking. She is almost 80 years old and doesn't drive much these days.

Some Medicare Advantage plans have transportation benefits. If she is on an Advantage plan, check her benefits.

Thank you. I may also suggest she call her Dr. Perhaps he would know.

I think the county might be able to help. Search for Marion County FL (be sure to add Florida) and if you do not see anything call the main number and they maybe able to help. I think they have senior services and may be able to help but it will take some digging. I think the phone will be best.

Look up Marion Senior Services. It does meals on wheels and other things.

Monroe Hospital has Prestige 55. They help seniors.

Some over 55 communities have private bus service. What sub division does she live in?

You can order some food from Amazon.

I'm not sure how far outside Ocala she is but is she is close enough to the city, there are Uber drivers that can drive her around. Just google "uber ocala fl" to get more information. She will have to be able to use a smartphone to book the car.

Thank you for this information. I will pass it on to her. She is not in a subdivision. It's private homes along that road built at different times by different people.

I don't even know what a smart phone is. I doubt she has one or could use one. She has a cellphone for emergencies or did last year. We haven't discussed it recently. I don't think she's in a good area for a senior. I think she needs to either join one of her grown children or move into the city. But I will pass on all helpful information to her.
