I assume you are now in Ocala. After a few months it might help someone else if you tell us what you found.

I have been to one of the poorest grade school and probably the best High School in the county. I have talked to the principal in both schools. I was impressed with both. The students I observed were very well behaved. Talked to a few. Seems that schools stress discipline and respect as well as learning. I probably spent less than 5 hours in the schools and do not know any children that attend the schools so my observations are very limited.

I do think the schools have a lot of improvement to make. The superintendent was just voted out of office and I think the schools were not improving so that might be the reason.

I used to live in Ocala for 6 years. Carlton apartment is nice and safe but if I were you don't move to Ocala. Have you visit to Ocala before? It's nothing like New Jersey. Ocala is not really good place to live because I know so many people moved out of Ocala to live a better life.

Mi husband and I want to move to Ocala, but we have kids and we are afraid that there are no good hospitals for kids? We also don't know which part is best to live. Any advise?

I was 15 when I developed a major brain tumor, fortunately after being diagnosed here in Ocala, I was quickly sent to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL which has an excellent pediatrics facility for treatment.

Ocala is about an hour South of there and about an hour and half North of Orlando that also has several excellent pediatric hospitals.

Here's another resource I found when looking at the same area. You can put in the address you are considering and see what crimes have happened recently near it.

Go to ocalapd.com. Under resources pick "Crime mapping". You get a map with crime icons for the previous week. Pick a crime icon and it lets you put in an address and shows you that address on the map with a distance from that crime. Whatever address you picked stays mapped on so you can see its relationship to all of the crime icons. Very handy and concise.
