Hi all,

I have been debating this move for awhile .I have checked out Sarasota,Venice, Port Charlotte, and just got back from interior Fl,Sumter County, and Leesburg. It appears Leesburg is having a rebirth due to all the building of The Villages.i am seeking quiet and safe area to put down roots for myself a interior designer, and a super friendly large dog.I would prefer to rent first to get the lay of the land and then buy. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. I know what a do not want is the concrete jungle I have seen of the west coast, so the space that Sumter County provides might be a good fit for me,along with growth potential for work.
Thanks in advance
Susanna

I would not live in Leesburg proper, but there are many beautiful and/or wide open spaces all around the area. But be aware, The Villages keeps buying up land and building like crazy......so its borders keep expanding into those wide open spaces.

I agree with TVG. No way would I live in Leesburg proper. Past Leesburg to the east is Tavares and Mt Dora which are nice. You can also find some decent new housing just west of US 301. Grand Oaks Manor, I think. You might also consider the Lake Weir area just northeast of The Villages.
