I am still researching moving to the Ocala area. I wonder if anyone can give me information about firearms.

I am looking for a place with at least ten acres. I was hoping I would be able to practice pistol shooting on the property, instead of driving a long way to a gun range. The property I like is about a quarter of a mile long and 400 feet wide, in a rural area. Will I be able to shoot there as long as I take appropriate safety precautions, or will the neighbors lose their minds?

The realtor said people sight deer rifles in on their own property all the time, but it seems like he never says anything negative.

Make sure you aren't in the city limits and choose a property in a non-incorporated area. I had 26 acres with no neighbors for about 1/2 mile. Never had a problem shooting my guns. All within reason, of course. Trying to setup a public shooting range will create many problems, and require many restrictions by the county.

As crazy as it is, its perfectly legal to shoot a gun in your backyard as described above. Even in the city. I dont agree with it but it is legal.
