Hi there! My husband, 2 young boys (11, 5) and I are relocating to FL in the next couples months because of his job. His new job is located in Crystal River. I know nothing about FL other than driving through it to go on cruises. I've been looking at several cities; Crystal River, Hernando, Inverness, Citrus Hills, etc. Any guidance to the best locations to raise a family would be great. We would like to be in a neighborhood so the boys can make friends. Close to shops, outdoor activities, pool, gym. The Terra Vista neighborhood caught my eye, but is it mainly retirees? The Villages at Citrus Hills??

Thank you.

We are in the exact same situation. We're moving there in June with two boys, 5 and 9. We've been down there a few times to look around and like the Terra Vista neighborhood and also the Pine Ridge area, but I'm like you and am unsure if it's mostly families or retirees. Hopefully someone will have some insider advice. Best of luck with your move!

Try the state of Fl web site for school ratings. This may help.

@Jamajawi ... Is your husband going to FL to work on the Duke Energy plant?

I absolutely love the idea of living in Terra Vista. I'm a stay at home mom and it seems like the perfect place to meet people with all the amenities. Schools are great in that area and the shopping isn't far either. I just want to be sure there's other families our age that live there. I've done research and it does state that the Villages of Citrus Hills are open to all ages, I guess I just need to call their office and talk to someone.
