For those who are familiar with both areas, how would you compare traffic on State Road 200 in the vicinity of OTOW down to Walmart and up to Ocala, compared to traffic on US441 through The Villages down to Leesburg?

Both have winter seasonal influxes. Ocala is twice as large as Leesburg, but The Villages is several times the size of OTOW.

If you come from a metropolitan area the traffic on 200 is fine. It can be bumper to bumper but it is moving. The road is being worked on now for some improvements. You can also avoid 200 by using back roads. I would not consider it a traffic problem.

Thanks, guys. We usually head out for a late lunch at around 2 to 3pm , so it sounds like traffic won't be an issue around OTOW.

This site might help. https://www.marioncountyfl.org/depar...ive-year-plans

Also search for road future construction. The "10 year" plans include roads to reduce potential traffic on 200.

Except for during rush hour, the traffic heading west, towards the big Walmart, is fairly light. Heading east towards I 75, the traffic picks up after 60th Avenue. It's especially bad during lunch hour and rush hour. And now that they are doing construction at the I 75 exit, it can get particularly bad. But the locals know all the back ways to get around Ocala and can usually avoid SR 200 during busy times. In the 12 years I have lived here, 200 has never been an issue.
Nonsense. This is not true. I live in The Villages. It's a great place to live.

I'll second that. 441 through The Villages IS a horrendous drive for those of us who can actually see what is going on. Talk about needing UBER Spidey Sense.
