Small city, with some services available. Marion County does have a fairly decent bus system, and a special program for people who are "transportation disadvantaged". Check this out:

Transit Services | | Marion Senior Services

It's not just for seniors, it's for people like yourself.

And here's a link to the Ocala Housing Authority:

https://www.ocalahousing.org/

I don't know if they can help you, but it might be interesting to check out.

The bus thing was VERY good to know about! thank you! i was wondering about that.

and I'll try getting in touch with the Ocala Housing Authority.

Ideally, i wanted to get my own land/property and build a small dome shaped house on it but they might be able to help me with that, and if not, they might be able to redirect me to resources that can.

Check out more on this site, and notice it says: "Marion Senior Services is a non profit, charitable social agency providing supportive care services to elderly, disabled and disadvantaged residents of Marion County, Florida." So even though it says Senior Services, it also includes disabled and disadvantaged. AND you can also get energy assistance to pay your power bills. Maybe they can refer you to someone who can help with your housing idea, which I think is a great idea.

Marion Senior Services Ocala, Florida

All you need to find is an advocate who can put together the land with the dome home. And yes, there are abandoned land lots out there that do have utilities in place, it's a matter of finding them and maybe getting the county or somebody to donate one. Some of them may even be in the city or close to the city.

The heck of it is, you've got banks and investors and others hanging on to those lots when you could get someone like yourself in there, in one of those homes, paying the county at least a little tax on it and maintaining the lawn.

Looks more like an entrepreneurship marketing page that an ongoing active firm. All conceptual, nothing there that cites they actually completed many, if any, projects.

If you do find a builder:

1. Confirm they are licensed https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp

2. Confirm they have insurance via an ACORD Certificate of Insurance. Confirm with the insurance company, not the contractor, to ascertain the certificate is not fraudulent. Note, the limits of liability on the certificate does not guarantee if the limits are still available if the limits were are are being used up to pay other claims but at least it us a start to see if they have any coverage

3. Get references from completed project owners and ones in progress

4. Visit the references if possible to see the project/completed work.

5.Secure a Performance Bond from the builder in case the contractor goes belly up. Again, confirm with the insurance company the Bond is valid.

Just be careful. A well known established firm may be better than a start up.

Thanks for posting that! Actually it's something I'm going to look into as well. Perfect for Florida living. I would imagine there will be fewer construction defects with those houses. Wow, if that gets going it's really going to tick off the homebuilders and related industries. They deserve it, too.

They are still in the developmental stage. You may want to wait until they get traction and have many completed projects.

You mean like the many completed projects of various companies building homes in Ocala and elsewhere in Florida?
