The AP story is mainly about New York emergency rooms, but if you scroll down there's a US map that breaks out cases by county. Marion is said to have 4 cases, no deaths so far. Praying it stays that way.

Update:

A friend of mine was supposed to have a non-corona related procedure at the end of the month. He just spoke to one of the administrative folks at the office, who told him there are "thousands" of corona cases in Gainesville. I just looked it up on the map, and there are 37 cases, no deaths in Alachua County.

So please be careful of the information coming from some of these lying liars in the medical field. Take nothing you're told on faith. Trust, but verify.

Some news of interest, connect the dots:

I don't blame them, they should take care of their own citizens first. However, they don't seem to mind exporting their crappier medications. I've had bad experience with one of them. Fortunately, I was able to find a workable US based substitute.

And then there's this little gem:

SHOCKER!!!! (I'm being sarcastic)

So, you talked to a guy who heard from an office person about something going on in an entire county, and you trust, and don't verify what THAT source has to say.

Let me tell you then:

the lady next door heard from her boss at the library that his podiatrist's sister's son works for the CDC in the mailroom. And that kid saw a memo being delivered to one of the CDC departments, that says their employees need to stay home because of thousands of people being infected in the area.

So go ahead and try to prove that this isn't true.

The whole point of my post was that what we were told was BS, as we found out when we went to verify it, and it didn't verify.

Read much?

That's the part I'm commenting on. I guess the irony was completely lost on you. My bad. I guess - the fact that you even had to look it up, you were willing to trust that this guy really was a) talked to one of the administrative folkis at the office, and b) that your "Friend" really believed that some office guy knew what the heck he was talking about...

and you'd think "hm - could this be true?"

You went to verify it. So - you believed this guy could be legit. Because he talked to some office person at an office of a place that was going to do a procedure that had nothing to do with the virus.

I understand human nature and the driving force to assert one's rightness. But seriously, reading comprehension and correct interpretation of what one is reading goes a heck of lot further than pretzel logic.

I have just posted an excellent map from the Florida Dept. of Health that shows Covid 19 cases by county. That should end the argument. We are now up to 23, no deaths and 2 hospitalizations. For the record, I do trust FDOH.

As of this morning, it's 93 cases, 14 hospitalizations, no deaths, in Alachua county.

I don't believe the figures I've seen, Today - (04/14/2020) Marion County - Confirmed: 101, Recovered: -, Deaths: 3 because accurate reporting would break out the retirement communities,

The biggest retirement community in Marion county is the same one that's in Sumter and Lake counties: The Villages.

So let's look at the data of all three counties as of 12:07 this afternoon:

Marion:
Confirmed, 103
Dead, 3

Sumter:
Confirmed, 112
Dead, 9

Lake:
Confirmed, 166
Dead, 4

So 16 dead in the area where around 125,000 people have lived in the past 4 months (remember this was Snowbird season until just a couple of weeks ago)

And 378 people confirmed with COVID-19.

Villages residents aren't the only people who live in these three counties but you are commenting about the retirement communities, and the Villages is the largest one, and is located in all three counties.
