What are some of the nicest areas around Ocala? We are looking at spending max $325K.

I understand that sink holes are a problem in the area. What do people do to avoid them or protect themselves and their property? Thanks!

Need more information to help. Are you looking for a 55+ community, suburbs, rural, urban ? Do you want raw land/acreage ? Do you care if it is a block, wood construction, manufactured home ? Large or small family ? Do you want a farm ? Not enough information to offer advice. There are a lot of nice homes available in that price range but your needs/desires must be confirmed to offer more advice.

Just me and my wife - no kids. Age 62 and 60. Retired. Not into golf...

Single family home. At least 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. 3rd bedroom would be nice for extra storage or my musical equipment. Maybe a way to look at it is what areas should be avoided (crime, etc)?

You should reach out to a local Realtor in the Ocala area to find a home. Make a complete list of your requirements ahead of time other than just price, such as bedrooms/baths, one story or more. You can get a lot of house in the Ocala area based on your price point.

What are some of the "more expensive" areas? Just looking online right now. Zillow, Trulia... No Kids, retired, age 62. Like quiet. Probably 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, garage, enclosed pool. I would hire someone for lawn care unless it was in a neighborhood that provided that with the fees. Close enough to some nice restaurants, medical/hospitals.

Personally, I live in the SW area near Hwy 200 within city limits and I feel it might be worth looking into. A fairly new, developing area is in the NW area if you are fond of horses.

How about sink holes? Big problem in the area? I imagine insurance is available for that. Any ideas on how much that would be, roughly?

I second northwest Ocala. The area on US Highway 27 It is quiet but has good proximity to shopping and I-75 and you are near a lot of pretty horse farms. There are some new developments like Trilogy that are upscale but you may be wasting your money there on HOA fees if you aren't into golf or the amenities.

SW 200 about 6 miles plus out side of Ocala. Start with 55+. Don't be turned off by golf. Just don't join the clubs.
