Hello;
I’m looking to build in Rolling Hills and am getting very nervous with the internet issues some people have reported. My husband works from home and is connected 10-12 hours a day. I’ve also read comments about crime being high however I’ve visited Rolling Hills are surrounding areas and it seems so quiet and peaceful. I’d like to hear from people who’ve been living there for a while as well as new residents

I lived within about 1/2 mile from there and internet is slow. Homes in that area still use the older buried copper lines and there is virtually little to no high speed internet providers there. Satellite internet is an option (albeit expensive) and fiber optic doesn't exist out there. Cable TV/internet is mostly non-existent in that area.

The area is quiet and in the 20 years or so that I lived out there, I never experienced any crime. I hope that is helpful to you.

Satellite internet is generally awful but Elon Musk has Starlink in beta testing that should provide great service. It's still in Beta though and there are some growing pains and it is not available in Florida yet, but this should be a good rural internet solution in the next 6 to 12 months.

But if you absolutely need a fiber like connection for work then you probably need to make sure it is available wherever you settle on. It could take many years and government money for cable and phone providers to build out these rural areas. It's currently not economical to do it without government subsidies.

Thank you for the valuable information. You both confirmed what I suspected. Bad internet and low crime rate. I love the area and it pains me to know I may have to look elsewhere because of the internet issue. We’ve worked remotely for over 10 years now And that’s not going to change anytime soon.
