I would like to buy a car from a Canadian. He says I'll have to have it
inspected here and will probably cost hundreds of $$. Anyone know
about this?

just check to see if the car passes emissions ....dmv...start there...not expensive if the car already has a converter...if not, the average one can cost around 200

It has been decades since Florida has required emission tests. No more annual vehicle inspections. Trust me, enough "beater" cars down here to prove that.

Better check the new rates -- they went up significantly last September. For two licenses, two title transfers, and two registrations, we paid over $800 last November, on an Equinox and a Freestar.

You will have to do a formal entry if you bring a car in from Canada and register it in the US. Your best approach is to call a broker like Deringer. Most cars in Canada have metric speedometer and odometer markings. You can have these units changed out if you wish.

true, my mistake...they are coming from out of state and the impact fee is high as hell.....new tag usually costs 150 alone....plus 200 impact
