Maumee is for the most part a safe community, but has more crime than Sylvania and the schools are not quite as good. As a whole Sylvania is a little bit more upscale, but if you find a neighborhood you like in either city you will have comparable access to metro parks, golf courses, shopping, etc... Toledo is not that large so you can get about anywhere in 30 min or less.

Agree with czb2004 about Sylvania and Maumee. As far the metro area is concerned, theres probably going to be more opportunities for, everything, in the Cleveland area, but Toledo is a great place with plenty going on, and Sylvania and Maumee are both great towns. While Maumee is probably the lesser of the two, its still completely fine too. Absolutely safe. Sylvania is just more affluent. Perrysburg is probably the most popular suburb of Toledo right now though, honestly.

Also, I've never been to Solon or Chagrin Falls, but just from looking them up online they both look like wealthy suburbs. Sylvania and Maumee are more upper middle class suburbs, so nice but probably not the same degree of affluence as Solon and Chagrin Falls.

The cool thing abotu Maumee is proximity to another COUNTRY! It is pretty cool to live an hour from Canada. lol
But, as everyone else has said, Solon/Chagrin > Sylvania/Maumee.

Yes, it would probably be similar to parts of Shaker Heights in terms of types of homes but more even more affluent. Or perhaps Bratenahl? I also believe there are some seedy parts of Toledo that border Ottawa Hills. Am I correct in that statement?

Yes. Ottawa Hills is the nicest suburb.

All the other suburbs consist mostly of boring new subdivisions, with a small traditional downtown (Sylvania, Perrysburg, Maumee). Ottawa Hills doesnt really feel so much like its own town as much as just a really exclusive elite neighborhood of Toledo, seeing as its mostly surrounded by the City of Toledo. It is its own town though, with its own excellent school district. Ottawa Hills is older, with a unique landscape. The Ottawa River flows through it, and its very woodsy. Ottawa Hills to me, is more "old money" where as Perrysburg and Sylvania are "new money".

I personally still like Maumee, Perrysburg, and Sylvania better....only because they do have nice, true, downtowns which actually get usage, whereas Ottawa Hills is strictly just residential streets, a few schools, churches, and thats literally it.

I wouldnt describe any neighborhoods bordering Ottawa Hills as "seedy". Theres some "iffy" neighborhoods nearby, but they really dont have any effect on Ottawa Hills. To the north and west are some of the best neighborhoods in Toledo. If you go slightly south, you run into some rougher areas, off of Dorr St. Particularly, the south side of the UT campus is a little sketchy, some might consider it ghetto, but its not the worst. To the east is mostly just residential areas stemming off of Reynolds Rd. Some areas off Reynolds see trouble here and there but nothing too bad.
