I agree, i always use their site to feed my real estate obsession. They show a lot more pictures. FirstPlace isn't a bad one either.

Oh yeah, and just a warning about Mineral Ridge. Several homes and yards out that way have abandoned coal mines below the surface. Many of these old mines have been mapped and located, but others have not. If you buy a house in the area make sure you get insurance to cover you in case of a mine collapse.

Materbum,
I agree with boardmanite...... I also live in boardman (31 years) but a little farther south. Great shopping in boardman, nice park, great restaurants. Best schools in mahoning county are in boardman...... if you have children that are into music, boardman has the premier music program in the tri-county area.

No problem "walking around the block" in boardman. I consider it a very very safe place.

Homes in boardman seem to hold their value (with the exception of this latest problem which is affecting the entire country)
I am not sure of the average value of homes in boardman but I have a brick ranch, 1/2 acre 3br, etc currently valued at around 140K. If you chose boardman, you wouldn't be sorry.

the cardinal problem with youngstown is in finding a job; if you have one, you are set. if not, you are not going to find one. no matter how many posts are written in the youngstown blogosphere to attempt to gentrify the city, there is no job growth in mahoning county beyond low-paying work like phone call centers or bars. any of the the suburbs of youngstown (austintown, boardman, canfield, poland) are safe and have good schools. most of the suburban are indistinguishable from each other and would be fine. this is why most people live there and not the city. hope you have a car and like to shop at the same stores. downtown youngstown is also very well lit and safe to be in most hours of the day and night, but there is very little a person would need to go down there for if they do not attend college or want to attend something at the chevy centre (well, you could drink at the bars). they were seriously overpricing the fancy apartments that they were trying to build down there. especially without amenities available in other places such as a supermarket (that is not a convenience store), or more than one gas station. that said, your kids would be safe if they decide to live in the ysu dorms. struthers isn't as bad as people make it out to be. the places to avoid would be the east side of youngstown (all of it), most of the north side (a few pockets are ok), most of the south (again, a few pockets are ok), and campbell.
