My family and I are moving to Ohio in July, for the most part we have it narrowed down to Mansfield area or Youngstown area. My 13 yr old is quite impressionable, so we are trying to stay clear of areas with high gang activity. My wife is able to work from home so she can take her job with us. I unfortunately cannot. However I do have over 20 years in the restaurant industry. I would rather work in an upscale establishment. But willing to work almost anywhere. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

mansfield or youngstown would not be on my list of cities to live in ohio.(no offense to people living there). they are just too small for me personally. look into cleveland metro, yes im biased , but many upscale restaurants to look into for employment.

I don't mind a big city, however my wife doesn't want to live in one, so we're looking at mid sized cities that are comparable to where we live now.

The Youngstown suburbs are very affordable and nice places to raise a family. They are all safe and have excellent schools. Just stay away from Youngstown city itself. There are safe and stable neighborhoods there, but the schools are awful.

Thanks TheYO, how is the hospitality industry there? Currently I work in a restaurant with a heavily Greek influenced menu, but have done Italian, Americana, and fine dining. I can cook anything but would love to go back to fine dining.

There are a lot of family owned Italian places in the Youngstown/Warren area.

Is that family-owned, or "family"-owned?

Ton of Italian places here. Fine dining is somewhat lacking. It's not exactly a Michelin star type of town.
