If you don't care about aesthetics of the area, honestly, you might be better off with Columbus.

CinciFan, Clifton and Hyde Park can't touch Short North in nightlife. But I don't know what Short North apartments go for -- they might be even more than Mt. Adams. Also, a 2br. can be found in Mt. Adams for <$1400. e.g.: mount adams and 2 storey 2BR 1BA, W/D, all utils incl.

Hey, that first apartment is at the corner shown in your photo. LOL.
Short North apartments can go for as low as the $700s in the furthest north sections to as much as $2,000. A recent project in the heart of the neighborhood added residential floors to an existing building. Everything was high-end and prices are between $1,200-$1,600/month. There are about a dozen other residential projects in the works right now.

Low $700s is pretty good for the Short North. I didn't think you could find apartments that cheap.

As far as Mount Adams goes, I was thinking of the cost to own property. I looked at a relatively small condo a couple years back that was going for just under $900,000. Compared to that, $1,400 per month for an apartment sounds like a steal.

I had a couple friends not too long ago living on High and 2nd and paying about $800 for a 2-bedroom. Further north in the not quite as developed portions, there are still some fairly cheap places. However, I don't know how long that will last, as revitalization is steadily pushing north as fewer and fewer buildable lots are left in the southern sections.

Cincinnati, for reasons aleady stated.

Check Prospect Hill. Also, Clifton Gaslight.

Columbus has a more youthful feeling. My wife and I were just discussing this the other day. Everywhere you go you seem to find young professionals, young families, or college students. It gives the city a vibrancy that I think is unmatched in any other Ohio city. I say this even though I absolutely love Cincinnati and spend a lot of time there especially for sporting events.

Plus S. High Street (Merion Village/German Village) is just as much a gay destination as Short North these days.

Please excuse me, fellas, but I guess that my "straight" naivete never considered that the OP Atlanta couple just might be gay...silly ME, eh? (Or are they?) Come on, guys...just what WERE the clandestine "trigger-words" (or "ways of expressing" one's gayness) that I overlooked in reading this thread? (My ears are open.)

You must have a surgically-inserted monitor which detects any discussion on this website which might possibly discuss the city of Columbus in a positive light, lest you miss an opportunity to spread your inferiority complex from the Queen City.
I was responding to a partially incorrect/outdated assertion made by another poster; if you have nothing of substance to add to the discussion perhaps you should keep it moving.

So, essentially, just what are you implying, Natural510? () Are there sublime and seminal "Columbus expressions of gayness'"that the rest of an unenlightened Ohio aren't aware of (especially the Queen City--that most sheltered, provincial, and backwater, but largest MSA of the state)? Or are things POSITIVE about a heterosexually-oriented Cincinnati being spun into things NEGATIVE by a homosexually-oriented Columbus? (Now being the new Columbus definition of "normal" having to become the new Cincinnati definition of "abnormal"?) Please clarify.
