Girard and Hubbard can provide less dramatic shots of what you're looking for with a substantially lower risk of crime. The volume of blight doesn't reach that of Ytown nor is it consistent. Huge stretches of Ytown (especially where the mills were along Wilson and Poland Ave) can deliver what you need.

Do you know any Ytown natives? Having someone who knows the lay of the land with the street smarts can help you navigate the city.
The mills that you talk about along Wilson and Poland Avenue... Is there perhaps a YouTube video or more information where you can supply me with? I will look as well is there a specific road that the mills are on? All of the visuals will be exteriors.

I do have the perfect place for you, except it is dangerous and in Pa. Wilkes Barre is the place-- it is rust belt personified with the closed stores, boarded up homes and homeless people. Lived there for the three worst years of my life. Check it out.

Google street view it. Just type in "Wilson Avenue Youngstown, Ohio" and follow it from downtown as far east along it as you want. It will supply you with everything you need.

Does it have to be Ohio? Go talk to the Pittsburgh forum. There are dead old downtowns and vacant houses up and down the Mon Valley. McKeesport: http://www.jonathondenson.com/2012/0...hoto-tour.html Look through all of his photo tours.

Or, perhaps beautiful Aliquippa will do.

Guns, knives, and their grade school kids have guns and knives, too.

One of the problems with Youngstown as a location is that they've been deliberately razing large parts of it that have been vacant and decaying for years, and then the arsonists have been lending their talents and taking out some more vacant houses. They were razing (no kidding) 3000-4000 houses/buildings per year there, for a while. There are far fewer intact blocks of vacant buildings now than when I drove around there back in 2005-2006. If you want blocks of vacant homes in various states of rot, with curtains hanging out of broken windows, then the whole Wick Park area north of YSU is pretty good for that.

That's a great list thank you. Yes I've been to McKeesport before actually in the Ward area. Crazy dilapetated homes with what seemed to be drug dealer infested.

I'm curious if you know of any places on the Ohio border and might have similar areas where there are old gas station signs are or old signs of abandoned buildings are very similar to what you sent me.

Perhaps a ghost town of sorts.

Oh stop. Are you looking for a house on LI? A place for an indie movie?

Which is it?

Bad neighborhoods are all over. And they are not safe.
