They suspects are on trial for this. It was a rival family from around the same area that did it. I worked with someone who lived "next door" (several acres away) from some members of the Pike family, and apparently they had gotten into a massive brawl at the WEDDING of one of the rival family members several years ago, and they were known to have beef.

Interest how this got spun up to international drug cartels when it ended up being an ex of one of the family members. It should have been more obvious when just one kid was missing who happened to be his daughter.

Human beings have an interesting proclivity for piecing together information in a haphazard way. Probably some evolutionary benefit to it. Though it seems the police were on the correct path from close to the beginning. I'm guessing the lack of information being released for a year or more after the murders is indicative that they believed it was someone local and didn't want to tip their hand.

I think the authorities have charged the right people for the killings. Of course, it doesn't help that the sheriff who was in office at the time has been charged for criminal conduct. it may give the defense something to build their cases on.

But the entire "Mexican scapegoat" thing fits in well with the 2016 era. Just sayin'
