I always loved the state of Ohio even though I barely remember going there. I'm actually from Wisconsin but now i live in Florida, BUT I see TONS of people from Ohio and ohio license plates and it reminded me of this...
^this song always reminded me of Ohio, and before I read the lyrics. i actually thought it was about Ohio...
I remember back in 2004 when i was 8 years old, my adoptive parents and I where on a roadtrip from Wisconsin to Washington DC and we heard this song on the radio while we were passing through the state Ohio. I actually misunderstood the lyrics.
Here's what the singer was Actually singing:
♫ If I could, then I would
I'll go wherever you will go
Way up high or down low, I'll go wherever you will go ♫
Here's what my 8-year-old-autistic mind told me I was hearing in the song:
♫ Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, wherever you go ♫
even since then I always been obsessed with Ohio and with that song. I was a bit disappointed when I realized that it actually has nothing to do with ohio, but it does now

what do you all think of this?
I think that Hang on Sloopy will always be Ohio’s song. I grew up in Ohio and went to Ohio State.
I'd have to go with "Hang On Sloopy. A runner up would be "Roller Coaster" by the Ohio Express. I don't know if it's an urban legend or what, but one of my kids told me that the screams on "Roller Coaster" were real and recorded when a girl fell out of a roller coaster. Sounds like an urban legend to me.

This garage rock hit by The Choir, a one-hit wonder, always reminds me of my Ohio, due to its great popularity in northeast Ohio when I was growing up.
With global warming, the climate has moderated so much from 50 years ago, that this song doesn't likely have the emotional resonance that it once did in northeast Ohio, let alone elsewhere in Ohio. E.g., a great romance definitely warmed up a bad winter.
