Here's an article (part 1 of a 3 part series) on the dangers of ethane cracker plants have on the environment. Ohio's building 2 of these massive beasts that will double down on Ohio's impact of fossil fuels, and the burning of dangerous gasses...

https://www.fractracker.org/2017/02/...thane-cracker/

Are the jobs worth the environmental risks? I dont think so.

Ohio's about to put the entire U.S. in danger, and when they start exporting ethane to China, the entire World. China is the largest ethane importer on Earth. if you dont think Ohio's ethane is going to be exported to China, you are naive.

When China burn's Ohio's ethane in its outdated unsafe plants, the amont of CO2 that will be released will be unprecedented.

I surmise, by the lack of responses, you all agree with the giddy Eastern Ohio local politicians that the jobs and economic stimulus are more important than the environment, and public safety.

Default Why climate warming in Ohio will doom maple trees and the maple sugar industry

Here's an excellent article about the ongoing demise of the maple sugar industry in upstate NY, with a more northern latitude than Ohio. Invasive species also threaten maple trees, and these species may survive more easily in warmer winters.

E.g.:

<<[Maple] seeds are sensitive to temperature: They need about 120 days of below-freezing temperatures in the winter, and 35 to 90 days of slightly above freezing temperatures to germinate. The optimum temperature for seeds to germinate is 34 degrees, but at 50 degrees germination essentially stops, said the USDA.>>
