Are Erie and Huron counties ohio considered Northeast Ohio or Northwest ohio? (Cleveland: university, live)

Huron County is neither.

Erie is also probably neither, as a whole, but I think you could split it. The Vermillion area is definitely Northeast, whereas the Sandusky area I think is either Northwest or nothing (definitely not northeast). I'd call it northwest personally, given how intertwined it is with Ottawa County's lake erie islands and Port Clinton, both of which are more solidly Northwest.

North Central Ohio applies more to places like Mansfield, Marion and Bucyrus (think "northern central Ohio"). I just think of Erie and Huron as Northern Ohio, not Northeast or Northwest. I am guessing there are people in those counties who consider themselves more tied to Toledo or Cleveland based on location (media from both cities is available in both counties and both Toledo and Cleveland TV cover those areas), but also guessing they don't think of themselves as necessarily being in either Northeast or Northwest Ohio unless they're on the fringe of those counties and squarely closer to either Toledo or Cleveland.

The Connecticut western reserve is considered northeast Ohio; Huron and Erie counties were in the in the western reserve.

Huron and Erie counties are in northeast Ohio.

Dated a girl in college from Norwalk, Ohio (Huron county) who considered herself to be more from NE Ohio / have more in common with Cleveland than Toledo (which both cities are exactly one hour away from Norwalk).

Lived in Huron county/ Lorain county border. We felt more apart of NE Ohio than NW Ohio. This could be due to the fact that t was the eastern edge of Huron county

When I attended the University of Toledo people would routinely say "I'm from Cleveland," and then when you ask exactly where, it wasn't uncommon to hear Kent or even places as far-flung as Ashtabula or Dover as a response.
