Bars too! Gov. DeWine does not want large St. Patrick's Day celebrations to accelerate community spread of COVID-19. Tough, but probably the right decision given what lies ahead.

This will be brutal for Ohio's top Irish bars, such as Cleveland's "The Harp," likely already with a fortune invested in preparing for St. Patrick's Day 2020. This decision should have been made weeks ago. Hopefully, these restaurants have insurance that will cover the loss, and they are able to promote carry out and even home delivery to minimize the losses.

This is tough for the workers (and hopefully some emergency relief will be provided for them) but this is the correct call. Say what else you may about DeWine, but he has handled this crisis well every step of the way. It turns out “career politicians” have the necessary experience to handle a crisis when it arises.

Now, Gyms, Fitness Centers, Hair Salons, Barber Shops, Tattoo Parlors and many other businesses are being shut down. Is the damage to the economy worth this? Ford and GM are closing plants.
Car Crashes kill thousands per year yet we don't ban driving...Sars killed thousands but we didn't go with these drastic measures.
If this lasts long, unemployment is going to skyrocket to 20%

Yes, it is worth it. Maybe watch some world news if you have no idea how bad this can get and how quickly we need to act to minimize the spread of the virus.

There’s not enough carry-out to support the restaurant businesses in my neck of the woods. I expect many restaurants will close within the next two weeks to maybe a month. It’s really sad.

I am sure the virus will bankrupt more people than it will kill.

66% of the American people live from paycheck to paycheck and can’t cover an unexpected expense of $400, how are renters going to make the payments on their gas guzzling Silverados and F-150s let alone afford scratch off lottery tickets.

This crisis will be a hard lesson in setting priorities for a lot of people much like the 1970s energy crisis and the Jimmy Carter misery index was for me.

The economic implications are going to be catastrophic, and some businesses are never going to reopen. And that's not even touching on retirement accounts...

If - at this point - there's anyone left who hasn't grasped the difference between this, and the regular old flu, or SARS, or other pandemics - then I gotta wonder if they're a troll or just never took 4th grade math.

Look at Italy. It killed more people in 10 days than the "flu" killed in all of Italy all of last year. I don't know what more evidence you would need - unless you think "that can't happen here." It can. It is.

But now - if it doesn't - it's because of the measures we took, not just dumb luck.

You traded your retirement and maybe your job for your gramma. No other way to look at it.

In the meantime - there's no evidence at all - anywhere - that if you let it take its course - it won't be catastrophic. It didn't just stop "on its own" in China.

I know that this is more serious than those other things, but now enough trials throughout the world have found a successful treatment. It seems like instead of giving everyone $1,000, we should be giving everyone chloroquine so that we can get things back to normal quickly.
