Just wanted to start a thread for a little Mahoning Valley love. What are your favorite things to do, places to visit, parks, restaurants etc in the area?

Mill Creek Park in Youngstown...Ohio’s first park district. Gorgeous all seasons.

For nostalgia’s sake, Sunrise Inn, downtown Warren. Unique and delicious pizza.

Canfield Fair was always a special treat. Haven’t been there in years. On my list.

Cheers!

The Butler Institute of American Art is one of Ohio's best art museums and the first art museum dedicated exclusively to the collection of American art.

It's always a good idea to check out roadsideamerica.com; search for Warren and Youngstown

You apparently can see a lunar lander replica and a Ford Pinto converted into a Mad Max-inspired, dystopian "Urban Assault Vehicle"

I second Mill Creek Park and Sunrise Pizza.

Maybe catch a show at Stambaugh or Powers Auditorium. Stambaugh Auditorium recently had their E.M. Skinner pipe organ restored, and they bring in organists for concerts. Both locations are nice, architecturally. Powers Auditorium was originally a Warner Movie Theater. But, the legend is that the Warner Bros. had this one built specially as a memorial to their brother. (and they built it here, because the Warner Brothers got their start in Youngstown.)

As a local, my favorite pizza places (besides Sunrise Inn's deep dish) are Wedgwood and Avalon Downtown. There are two Wedgewood locations. I like them both, but some say the original, in Austintown, is best.

Another place that's a little unique is the Amish Market in Boardman. https://theamishmarket.net There are many shops inside one large retail space. You can find furniture, fresh pies and pastries, dairy products, a couple prepared food vendors, a butcher, etc.

Finally, if "Warren" is one of your search words, make sure you aren't finding things in Warren County, because that's in SW Ohio.

Powers is world class, as is the Butler. Don't laugh - they really are.

Wedgwood is awesome.

Downtown is sprucing up - lots of great drinks and food now, I enjoy it now more than I ever did.

Amish Market is a hidden gem, for sure.

Nova Coffee Company at Courthouse Square in Warren is a really solid coffee shop. Just a block or two away, Modern Methods Brewery does some really interesting stuff, loved the Percolator Coffee Lager. Brother's and Tony Brother's on Market Street are also pretty great imo for a some pizza or subs and the like.

I've really enjoyed spending time at both Mosquito Lake and Mill Creek Metropark.

Went to the Butler Institute for the first time today and was blown away- truly a top class museum in the country. The staff was also incredibly helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back sometime and would encourage everyone to visit (plus, it's free).

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.

I'm ashamed to say that I could walk to the Butler in about 15 minutes. But, I haven't managed to get myself there, yet. Because I'm working from home, and have become way too sedentary over the last year, I'm making an effort to be more active. So, maybe a trip to the Butler is in my near future?

Anyway, I wanted to add MVR to my list of favorite restaurants.

Default I'm not from here but I am so happy to be here I love it so much!

My English Springer Spaniel and I love all of the parks and hiking.
Mill Creek Park has miles and miles of beautiful trails with uncomparable scenery.
Boardman Park is a beautiful place with more trails. Marge Hartman's Paws Town
Dog Park in Boardman is like a country club for dogs. Yellow Springs Park in Struthers
is small but very nice. Poland Municipal Forest (also known as the Poland Woods)

has a lot of trails and is beautiful.[/color]
There are plenty of good places to eat. Sweet Melissa's on Market St. in Boardman.
The food at The Amish Village in Boardman (bakery, restaurant...all spectacular), The Elmton in Struthers, etc. there are so many more.

Boardman is the shopping hub in this area so you can find nearly anything you need. Southwoods Medical Complex is fairly new, clean and beautiful.
The people here are friendly. The only regret I have is that I did not move here
sooner. F.Y.I. - My in-laws are from here so I've been visiting this area for the last 27 years and I've lived here for 10 months.
