He did a great job early on when he acted on Dr Acton's suggested actions...once she left, he became a bit adrift if you ask me...but the Pandemic is practically over now w/ everyone having access to the highly effective vaccines...so its time to end the restrictions...if you want to keep wearing masks in public, by all means do so...but I'm vaccinated so I plan to shed the mask.

IHME is funded by Gates and their projections have repeatedly been way off; I would go with the numbers agreed upon by other entities, which are close to the number you give.

We won't adopt Zero-Covid in this country any sooner than soccer will supplant football as the #1 sport. WRNative won't accept that and you see how angry it makes him; that's why I asked him to chill out, because it can't be good for his health the way he flies off the handle at anyone who doesn't share his fundamentalist views.
We have too much freedom in this country to ever fully eliminate a virus...30K cases a day down from well over 100K a day is a great job. Unlike the previous Idiot in chief...President Biden has done a tremendous job getting us over the pandemic. He came in w/ no vaccine distribution plan in place and w/in 100 days had well over half the adult population vaccinated.

Why would any sensible person take an unnecessary risk of not wearing masks, a painless and minimally inconvenient task, especially indoors among anonymous strangers as this epidemic still is underway and new, more transmissible and virulent variants are emerging and the U.S. lacks sufficient border controls to protect the nation?

Read this article this morning and once again thought of all the individuals and families sadly victimized by anti-scientific rants of Trump and his followers. This is what you consider normal? Do you have no empathy for the brutal losses unnecessarily inflicted on hundreds of thousands if not millions of American families, economically if not medically???

<<Even worse, the risk of hospitalization among the infected has more than doubled, possibly because of widespread coronavirus variants, said Ted Delbridge, executive director of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.>>

Why isn't the Biden administration publicizing this fact, or that a large majority of hospitalized COVID patients will suffer from long COVID, as well as some significant percentage of infected individuals who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms??? Wouldn't this help overcome vaccine hesitancy?

As I've repeatedly said, the economic cost of this epidemic will be catastrophic in the years ahead, even if we escape a second wave.

We soon may experience once again the cost of complacency and acquiescence to the anti-mask factions of our society.

<<Some countries with the world’s highest vaccination rates are also battling devastating surges of Covid-19 and the highest death tolls, a worrying trend that has left experts and officials wondering whether successful inoculation drives have lulled governments into easing restrictions too soon and the public into a false sense of security. >>

Nobody has explained why a "live with COVID" policy devoid of robust public health measures is preferable to Australia's "NO COVID" policy. Australians SAFELY don't wear masks nor engage in social distancing, and the Australian pandemic economy has been more robust than in the U.S. and the economic future more bright. And, as repeatedly explained, just a small fraction of Australians compared to Ohioans and Americans in general have died from COVID or been inflicted with long COVID. You don't care about this fact?????

I wonder if our employment shortage partially is a result of persons incapacitated by long COVID, or members of families fearful of COVID exposure from sad experience. Sadly, nobody is making a serious effort to investigate this apparent likelihood.

Heck, I might continue to wear masks even if COVID goes away completely just to annoy those who helped inflict this catastrophe on our nation.

And I continue to think about the robust anti-TB public health measures in the 1950s compared to the eagerness of so many Americans today to want to have this epidemic wash over the nation. How did so many Americans fall prey to the anti-scientist Big Liars of our society?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???
You are truly paranoid...we've lived w/ viruses our whole lives...this is far from the worst virus we've ever had to deal with...again, I had it... it was no big deal...i've been sicker from the common flu...stop trying to persuade us that this is some travesty...we're over it...anyone that wants to get vaccinated can for free...there is nothing holding anyone back from that...most people who have gotten it have had little or no symptoms...unfortunately, I did lose a coworker to it but guess what...he had diabetes and a bad heart...so while it was sad, he was probably going to die from one of his many health issues in the near future anyway...
I've read studies that say that the covid death count has been overblown as well...some were called covid deaths when they died in accidents yet tested positive for covid...same w/ heart attacks or other ailments. ..
I'm done living in fear and can't wait to return to normal life.
President Biden has done a great job following his scientists and actually putting out a plan to get everyone vaccinated.
The last thing to be done is to get vaccines that work for children under 12.

I bartend on the weekends, so I talk to a lot of people and obviously Covid regulations is a huge conversation now. In good weather, we are absolutely packed both inside and on the patio. Doesn't seem like anyone really minds. I don't think there is any reversing course now, people seem totally done with the rules. I'm also seeing quite a lot of boomers out at the bar too, it's not only young people resuming life by any means.
Good for them...and it's great for the economy...those bar and restaurant owners as well as event facilities, theaters and concert venues were hit way too hard for no reason at all. I enjoyed supporting several local places this weekend even though the weather sucked for the end of May. Now if only a good movie would come out that I'd want to see, I'll go to a movie theater too. Really can't wait to attend a concert again and hopefully Ohio State football games this fall w 100,000+ of my closest friends

You’re correct about the vaccine distribution, but the death count has not been overblown...if anything they’ve been undercounted. After 30 days, patients are no longer considered to be actively infected with CoVID and even if they die within a week or two of symptoms obviously related to the infection, the cause of death can not be labeled as COVID.

The masks are stupid...I will be so happy to not have to wear them anymore...especially since I am vaccinated as well.
I did get a mild respiratory infection during the great lockdown. I never had myself tested for COVID-19 as a possible positive result would have been a great nuisance, even for a retired person.

My mother died from COVID-19. She was 88, suffering from dementia, and living in a memory care facility. As such, she was typical of the people who died from COVID-19. The memory care unit adopted isolation practices early in the epidemic, and banned visitors. None of this made a bit of difference; COVID-19 is just too contagious. The economic consequences of the lockdown are all too apparent, though.

As a 64 year old at the start of the epidemic with no underlying health issues, I had plenty of time to evaluate the vaccine before I was eligible to receive it. I have been fully vaccinated since April 15.

I stopped at the drug store, the grocery store, Goodwill, and stopped in to see my former coworkers at the Water & Wastewater plants. It was nice to get out and see people. No masks required for the fully vaccinated. I carried a copy of my COVVID-19 vaccination card (I copied it onto a 3"x5" index card) in case someone said "Show me your papers!", but that did not happen. I even got to see store employees without masks.
