Sure, of course I'm being hyperbolic. Just the poster there lived in like one part of Ohio that most Ohioans have honestly never even been to and smears the whole state based on (likely false) notions of how he perceives people (less intelligent, less educated, less cultured of course than he) to be living their life.

Yes, something like that. I never cared for "family values" or religion, and am adamantly child-free. The stereotypical vanity and materialism of Los Angeles, though itself hyperbole, has considerable appeal to me. So is the notion that nearly everyone is from somewhere else, coming together to build careers, to make money, to reach prominence... and less so, to plant roots. It's useful to be able to text a coworker on a Sunday, and to expect a prompt reply; or that the only grumbling about staying late into the evening for work, is if the company neglected to order sushi.

Apart from a handful of friends, what I miss about Ohio is $5 gyros, the local public library and one or two Metroparks.

I grew up in Cincinnati and never felt the area was "too churchy" or "too Catholic". My impressions were nearly the opposite. My high school and college friends (and their families) were not avid church goers. With some home grown beers (Hudepohl and Little Kings), Cincinnati to me was home to many who liked to drink alcohol. And back in the day, if you wanted to buy a Hustler or Penthouse magazine, you just went to one of the surrounding counties or Kentucky or Indiana.

It's pretty sad if you have to go to Indiana or Kentucky for social freedom.

When I was in high school, I knew people who went to Kentucky to buy loads of cigarettes because they were cheaper there vs. Ohio.

I live in Silicon Valley and that swashbucking individualism is increasingly gone from here as well in favor of PC "woke" culture. I really notice the difference from when I moved here in the late 1990s.

I want to go there. Why is it scary? The surrounding neighborhood?

Because it's in East Cleveland and East Cleveland is bombed out. But honestly Noble Rd isn't even that bad. You'll be completely, totally fine.

Seconding this. I can't speak for the route to get there, but the actual NELA park area is fine. We park on the side streets and walk over, no issue at all.

A lot of people just drive by slowly, so that is an option too.
