Hey!!

Okay I have a big problem! I am from Germany, but I need as much information as possible about Germantown in Ohio! I write a paper about it for school and if I don't do that I won't be able to graduate ! Besides Germantown is the sister city of my hometown!

I divide my paper into three sections:
1. German Emigration to America
2. History of Germantown from the 18th century till today
3. Germantown today

I don't have many problems with the first two topics, but the last one really makes me sick! I can't find anything in the internet except for the population or so...

Please please help me!!

Give as much information as possible!

By the way, pictures are very welcomed, too (because I haven't any idea how Germantown looks like)!

There is some info on Germantown. It is SW of the city of Dayton. It 98% white with the next biggest race being hispanics. Hope some of these sites help.

Here are some pictures for you, of the older part of town, taken by me last year, I think.

http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=9373.0

The town is nowadays pretty much a suburb of Dayton, though people also commute to work in Middletown. It is still surrounded by open farmland, though there is new suburban houses to the east and west of town. There are some little buisinesses in town, some antique stores, and so forth.

There there are some nice nature parks or preserves nearby, and a bicycle trail that connects the town with the parks.

Here is the local historical society website (you may have seen this already):

Hey!

How cool thank you!
I've already know the official Germantown homepage! And the homepage of the Historical Society, too! But thank you anyway !
The problem is: I am not allowed to use wikipedia.com for my paper! I think this is pretty stupid, but the teacher don't think it is serious enough ...
Wow great, the pictures are great!! Thank you so much, JefferyT !

Your Welcome! You can use any of my pictures for your report, if you want to.

If you want official statistics on Germantown, and have a good working knowlege of English, you can use the US Census American Factfinder website, which will provide you with statistical information from the last census.

There are usually no "Stadtwappen" for US cities and towns, but there may be a city seal, which is similar. You might want to see the city government website or perhaps send an e-mail to the government to see if they have one.

I myself would like to learn more about Germantown. I had heard of it, but i knew it was very small. It sounds like an interesting little town.
