I was disappointed to hear through friends that Put-In-Bay has really changed since back in the 70's and 80's. We used to head up there on boats just about every weekend and have the best times. While in college, I lived and worked there for 3 summers and those are some of my best (and craziest) memories. I haven't been over to the Bay in at least 15 years now (living 750 miles away makes that difficult - ha) and was thinking about going up for a visit with friends and spending a weekend on PIB, "just like old times", but was told that it's much more calm and mellow now. Friends who still live in OH said that the condos, hotels, strict laws and regulations, and MUCH higher prices took all the fun out of it.

What do ya'll think about P.I.B.? Would it be worth the trip? I'd like to hear especially from those of you who rememeber it from back in the 70's and 80's. Do you think it's changed that much?
(I'm thinking that my friends are just saying that because they are older now and look at things differently....of course I haven't aged!)

Surely someone on here has been to Put-In-Bay and has an opinion or can give me some feedback?

Here's a corny tour video:

YouTube - Put-In-Bay

Looks like these people had some fun there and at Cedar Point:

I've never been there, but most people i know go there to party. Not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Put In Bay is so incredibly redneck infested. I would never go back there.

Thanks for the videoclips....it looks like the buildings have changed, but it still looks like the party place it used to be. I'm not really into the partying scene anymore, but think I'd like to see how much it has changed and to visit old friends who still live on the island. Thanks for responding.

Hm-m-m...It didn't used to be....a few sneaked in once in awhile , but for the most part it was just college kids, boaters, professionals, you-name-it...just looking for an escape from the "real world" for a few days.

I have friends that still go every weekend. Take the Boat out and party all weekend long. Of course they are 8 years younger than I am... The biggest change is I've outgrown some of the activities... Nah, it hasn't changed that much.... we have.

You hit that one on the head! I don't think I could "keep up" anymore, but really don't think I would want to. I sowed my wild oats back in college and summers at PIB....but as I said, I'd like to go back just to see how much has changed, see if any old friends are still around, listen to some live music, ....and probably be one of those "boring old people who ride bikes or drive golf carts around the island, and even go up in the monument". LOL I can't believe I'm really "one of those" now!

I'm neither boring nor old, and I actually drove a golf cart around, stopped at the monument and museum, and sampled some local (Boone's farm calibre) wine before heading back to Findlay. It was pretty tame because I went during the day on Sunday, but many people told me that Friday and Saturday nights are pretty crazy. I wonder what happens to all the drunk people who miss the last ferry of the night...

P.I.B. is still the alcoholics Disneyland! I was up there two years ago and on Friday and Saturday night ,....and I would say it rivals Mardi Gras!!!!
