I do love it here in northern ohio but only because this is home to me, and yes I am use to the snow but since being diagnosed with scleroderma I've been wanting to move down south where it's *warm*! Not to mention my gas bills is super high (500$ a month on average) crazy! And there's no budget for it! I'd rather live down south and use an AC at least you can get on the budget with electric. I'm a 25 yr old mama of 3 kids and I don't make much but I do wanna save up to visit somewhere down south, preferably by the coast. I want a safe place with a small populous of people and a cute Main Street with lots of kids activities, ocean breeze and low crime rate.... Does anyone have any suggestions, I know a lot of you Ohioans like to go to Florida!!! Lol

Sounds like Virginia to me. Post up on the VA Forum and ask about towns around the James River.

Honestly, it is going to be tough to find cheap and low crime on the coast. Good luck.

Have you ever considered a different "coast"?

You criteria almost sounds like Lake Cumberland in KY/TN would make the most sense. There's also a big series of lakes in the Tennessee River down around Huntsville AL that would fit the bill too. Both should provide a cost of living that is equitable to Toledo, although job opportunities might be more scarce.

Good luck!
