If you come across an Ohio town that shares a name with a foreign city you can be pretty certain that people in Ohio pronounce it wrong.

A lot of words are Americanized.

If different from some other, it's not pronounced wrong in Ohio if everyone says it the same way, and maybe not in the surrounding states either.

I get a kick out of truck drivers that ask me how to get to (Elyria, Ohio) or as they say it "E-lie-ria" , instead of Eeelearia .
