skyegirl understands me- for the most part. i was using conservative as a very nice shorthand for a whole social mindset. while it is true that people who hold certain beliefs gravitate to one party or another in a broken two-party system, conservative is just as much a set of beliefs about lifestyle that go beyond political involvement and enter into neighborly interpersonal contact. it is fine that people think the way that they do. it is also good to get an idea of how a random person in a town you might be moving into think.

i was not attacking your beloved city or you for living in your beloved city; i was simply providing the op with a quick thumbnail sketch of the state in regards to parts of the criteria they suggested that they might like if they potentially move to ohio. which, like most of the midwest, is not anywhere near being as socially progressive as other places in the country. sure, every city of cinci's size has their anecdotes that prove your point, but for more positive anecdotes in the criteria mentioned columbus and cleveland, in my opinion, would be a bit better than cinci (especially if the op does not live right in the city).

Your methodology is like saying criminal activity is more likely to happen in an urban core. Most urban cores are majority African American, therefore African Americans are more likely to commit a crime, than say a Caucasian.

The only difference between what you and I said, is that one is socially acceptable and the other isn't.

I'm not debating your content, just your reasoning.
