What kind of information are you looking for? I may be able to track down some info about the case. If it is records from the hospital, you'll need to check with the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus. I believe you need to be next of kin.

I have quite a bit of info and photos from the animal program. "Those Amazing Animals" sounds familiar. How were you associated with the program? Thanks!

I don't recall these specific experiments taking place at the Lima State Hospital. Although I have several photographs of Ohio Penitentiary inmates being injected with cancer cells during this period. Dr. Sam Sheppard was among them. He died of cancer. The Dr. in charge really didn't do much follow-up.

I do not have a copy of these either. If anyone has one available, please let me know. I'd like to hear the story about your stay.

Are there any records that I can look to? I'm researching a possible book about the murder. Anyone out there have any ideas on where to start as far as LSH is concerned?

Thanks!
Hello. I just realized that I have original photos of Charles Gibbs and his daughter following the killing. I also have a photo from a couple of years later of his daughter following the plot twist. I'd really like to discuss this further with you.

I have a copy of the book some of you are talking about. Lima State Hospital Chamber of Horrors. I have never read anything like it. Talk about horrors! You can go to the Lima Public Library and ask to see it. It cannot be checked out but you can make copies. I am sorry for what ppl had to endure!

Default Chauncey Miller Convicted of Murder 1939

I am doing research for a local Historical Society. I am looking for information on Chauncey Miller, an inmate who was convicted of murder in 1938. The courts declared him insane and sent him to Lima State Hospital for the criminally insane. Chauncey Miller entered the system in 1939 at the age of 22. He was deemed "cured" and released in 1950. It appears Miller became an upstanding citizen: married, worked a good job, retired, and died in 1984.

I am unable to get a copy of the court records. I've been told that if the case involves mental issues/insanity, the records are sealed for 100 years. Is there other ways to get Miller's records, court case or incarceration time?

Thanks in advance for sharing information.

Done eighteen months there and was in 5dorm, 5a to be exact , and I can vouch for the window portion of the story above.
We use to take pieces of ripped up T-shirt and close it in the window to make it close tightly and flush to the wooden frame.
We'd beat these windows closed after with the bottom of a state boot, there would have been no explanation other than a
Massive storm as to why these windows were opened again in the morning. Believed it to be a hoax played by other inmates
Until one that was nailed shut opened up effortlessly. That place was and more than likely still is a highly active paranormal
Area. The dark apparition was also in the upper dorm in 5 lock, seen it in broad day, no drugs or booze in me but it showed itself.
