We are not looking to move there...but are going on vacation there in June...not during the Washboard Festival. Some people have told us it will be boring, but we are looking for a quiet, non-commercialized vacation for our kids and two small dogs.

I know the nature hikes are wonderful but any other insightful information for vacationers would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have heard good things about the area from people up here in Cleveland who go to the area in the fall. Here is something from wikipedia, just a little source to help you out. At the bottom it has external links if you want to do further reading. Good Luck.

Well this is an old thread, but if anyone is looking into the Hocking Hills area, it would be a great vacation spot for the family. They have some of the best waterfalls.

There is a really cool cabin down there that my friend's and I often visit. It isn't that expensive, and can sleep up to 12 people with hot tubs and a pool table, etc. It is called Two Trees Inn.

Other than that, just walk the trails. It is a lot of fun to see the caves and waterfalls that will surprise you when you come around the corner!

Check out the Hocking Zipline Canopy Tours if your kids are old enough, it's half price for kids a couple days a week.

For anyone that wants to visit the Hocking Hills, I would recommend this website: Hocking Hills Region of Ohio - hockinghills.com - "HOCKING HILLS INTERNET GUIDE"

It is very comprehensive!

There are beautiful cabins to stay in and lots of great hiking (Old Man's Cave is a must).

Go to the local Pizza Crossing for pizza....it is delicious (but I am biased, because I grew up on it).

I would also recommend a day trip (actually evening) to see the outdoor drama Tecumseh! It is cool! Tecumseh! The ULTIMATE Outdoor Drama Experience - Chillicothe, Ohio

Have a great time!
