Is Southern Ohio considered part of the south? (Cincinnati, Kent: racist, cities)

Also blacks were not allowed to swim at the town's pool known as Dreamland as late as the 1960's.

Scioto County has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1960.

The county has 689 farms spanning 94,342 acres.

So no Southern Ohio is not Southern in the same way Savannah or Charleston might be but it definitely has more in common with Kentucky or West Virginia than the rest of Ohio.

Uh, no. Atlanta is the second-Blackest major metro in the country with practically the entire southern part of the core metro being heavily Black, and Gwinnett County is one of the most diverse counties in the entire Southeastern U.S., and you seriously think metro Atlanta has "Southern confederate culture" everywhere????? How ridiculous.

That was not unusual even in the north at that time.

My mother's family grew up outside of Philadelphia. She has a bunch of half cousins who are half-Sicilian. Most of them can get quite tan in the summer time. They were often barred from using the public pool as children. It might be part of the reason why, even though several of them became pretty rabid right wingers, they don't have much tolerance for racism.

Black people were 50% of the confederacy' population. Black people were quite defining of everything in the confederacy.

I disagree. The vast majority of Southern Ohio is not like Kentucky. Only Southeastern Ohio.

confederate and "southern" are interchangeable. Confederate is a slightly more defined definition of Southern, but they are mostly interchangeable.

THIS. IS. DUMB.

Southern cuisine, music, accents/speech, etc. are what defines Southern culture and they have NOTHING to do with the establishment of the Confederacy itself, which was a short-lived entity that was soundly defeated by the Union. Those cultural elements preceded the Confederacy and continued well afterwards, up until the present day. The Confederacy only existed to PRESERVE SLAVERY, and saying that Black people "define the Confederacy" represents the height of ignorance and is blatantly offensive. You hate Atlanta so much that you're willing to go to great lengths to offend an entire race of people in the process and you should be absolutely ASHAMED of yourself.

What's next, arguing that cities like Detroit, Philadelphia, DC, and Baltimore are "Confederate cities" because they have Black majorities/pluralities whose forebearers came from the South??????
