I do not believe the school district does much (if any) pre-school programs. I believe this is typically done privately. On that note you might look into church pre-school programs, as they tend to be cheaper than private facilities. Even if the church is not the same "religion" as you, at that age (pre-school) the slight differences between branches of religion are typically not noticed. Me and my wife are Methodist, but both of our kids have attended pre-school at a Presbyterian church where the monthly tuition is only about $150.

We didn't move here until our kids were in high school, so I have no personal experience with that here. I might be wrong, but I thought public preschool was restricted to students with some sort of special circumstances, such as being an ESL student or a head start eligible student. I know that's how it was in every other school district my kids were in (they were all in Texas). I just assumed that was the case here, but I could be very wrong. I would suggest you call the school district and ask them about it.

Smile Preschools....

We will definitely look at the presbyterian preschools as we attend a presbyterian church now along with some of the other preschools in the area. As for school district preschools, here our school district offers a preschool for both toddlers (ages 2 1/2-3 1/2) and preschoolers (3 1/2-5). It's actually a very good preschool system- however, there is always a wait list. Not every school district here offers it. The benefit and why there is usually a waitlist is because of the rate and the fact that the little ones will then generally flow right into the elementary school and be familiar with it and the kids they may go to elementary school with once they start kindergarten. I guess every area is a little bit different. Thanks so much for the information. I appreciate it.

I would bet most here have a waiting list too.. They typically offer priority of open slots to returning students.

Edmond public schools do have pre-k. So once your kids are 4, they can enroll in the spring for the next school yr- their website has more info.
Preschool for like a 3 yr old though, is solely private. There should be plenty of churches that do preschools in Edmond so that'd be your best bet.

If you are still looking, Oklahoma Christian Academy has a good program. The teacher that is currently teaching that class is REALLY good. Everyone there is wonderful though.

Edmond public schools do have pre-k. We are districted to John Ross. I am enrolling her on Monday. The pre-k is only a few hours either morning or afternoon. My daughter will be in the afternoon. She went from 9-3 2 days a week where we lived previously, so this will be an interesting change. She still sometimes needs a nap.
