Is the area east and west of Meridian between 50th and NW Expwy generally safe? Thank you.

Yes, I would say that the crime rate in that area is fairly low.

Jdcf - that specific area is safe. I grew up in that area....my parents and siblings are still in the area and they all report no problems and still love their neighborhood (subdivision NW of 63rd and Meridian). No problems ever for them. I always enjoy visiting - headed back to OK next week. Work and life took me to Detroit...I definitely miss many things about NW OKC and OKC in general. Was back for a short visit in April - Bricktown is great.

I grew up there too, near NW 57th and Vermont. Did you graduate from Putnam City?

Peggy - Yes, I did! Graduated from PC (Original) in '81. Attended Rollingwood Elementary, Central "Junior High, too. My parents still live on Sterling Drive.

Are you still in the area? Former "Pirate" also?

I'm looking forward to my visit to OKC soon...I will, of course, enjoy some Taco Bueno while there...(I miss all the great food in the area!)

Kay,

Orange you glad you are a Pirate?

I graduated way back in '66. Coronado, Central Jr High, PC original.

I don't live there anymore, but my mom lived there until she passed away so I used to be around the area a lot. I think it is such a nice neighborhood. It doesn't have that plastic feel that Edmond has.

Hope you have a great visit! Maybe you will post here about some of the things you see and do.

That is what I like about norman is that it doesnt have that plastic feel to it. Norman is really becoming a very friendly family destination. With many free events and concerts for the family.

Wow, cool to see people on here from the old neighborhood. I'm a little younger, graduated from high school in Texas in 1999. I did, however, live in OKC up until the end of 5th grade. Went to Rollingwood, lived on Barr. I rode my bike up and down Sterling, Libby, etc. all the time. I really miss the feel of that neighborhood. I have family in Edmond now, so I get to go back and drive through every now and then. The area near the library where the old Homeland used to be seems to have gone downhill.

I grew up in that area also. My parents still live in the same house I grew up in. Yes, it is a very nice neighborhood, and safe as well. Lots of good memories from there. I also went to Rollingwood, Hefner, and PCO. Graduated in '77.
