By "OKC area" I'm including areas such as El Reno which isn't too far from OKC. I've heard Mustang and Yukon are good to live in, but checking craigslist they're also pretty expensive. Currently in Del City and not fond of the crime rate here, just recently moved here from out of state.

Also, any advice on a good trucking company that will train someone for CDL and is home at least once a week would be appreciated. I've heard Archer, Performance Tech, and Slumber J, but I can't find any truck job listings for any of them.

It depends on what your definition of cheap is. Are you looking for an apartment? A house? What size?

You could get a 1 bedroom apartment for around $500-600 in most areas that are in safe neighborhoods, and some places could be cheaper than that. I pay $620 right now for my 1 bedroom and I live in NW OKC.

I'm interested in the same thing. Apartments from 450-600 a month.

You can easily find 1 bedroom apartments in that price range if you look in the right areas. If you're looking for a safer area, you're going to be looking at the upside of that budget, but if you really don't care you could easily find it toward the bottom end as well.

As I mentioned, I live in NW OKC and pay $620 for a large, almost 840 sqft, 1 bedroom apartment. In my complex alone there were 1 bedroom apartments that were smaller and less than $600. But you can find ones in that price range pretty much anywhere in the metro, including Edmond.

I've lived in Bethany (lake Overholser) and in The Village (north okc) so far & like them both pretty equally. Bethany seems to be a little cheaper, but both have been nice, quiet & safe ... knock on wood

I pay a little over eight hundred for a 3bed small house in the Village, the common range for an older home up here seems to be about $650-$1000 depending on how the home has been cared for/updates/central ac/lot size/etc.

I've heard that too. I actually work in the Village, but live west, on the other side of Lake Hefner from it, but I haven't noticed much, but I could see how they would say that. It isn't as nice as it once was I don't think.

I thought the same thing when I read the OP. I guess this is a common misspelling/pronunciation for those who are not familiar with the oilfield or French. My husband was trying to give our nephew some guidance concerning oilfield jobs and told him to look online at the Schlumberger website for jobs. Our nephew called him back and said he couldn't find a website for Slumber J. Never dawned on my husband that our 22 year old nephew, who was totally unfamiliar with the oilfield, would not have known the correct spelling and had he seen the name Schlumberger would have pronounced the name Schlum burger.
