My husband's looking at a job a the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and we will be looking for a place to live within a short commute. A commute by bicycle would be ideal but we'll move farther out if needful for safety or schools. Any suggestions for safe, green neighborhoods that would be within a short distance of UOHSC? Which school districts are in that area?
Thanks!

How much money can you spend and are you looking for a house? A historic neighborhood called Lincoln Terrace is adjacent to UOHSC. Many UOHSC doctors live there because they can walk to work. School? All of the neighborhoods near UOHSC will be OKC public schools. Classen school of advanced arts is public and great. Your children will have to meet certain test requirements to attend. Great private schools are near. Mt. St. Marys/Casady/McGuiness are close by.

Question what about more rural areas nearby?

I am looking at moving to the eastern side of Norman and commuting to OUHSC. Is that a bad commute? What do you know of the area? From what I can tell from Mapquest, it would be 45 minutes to OUHSC and 30 minutes to the nearest Walmart or fast food joints. Can you confirm/deny, or provide any more info on things I should know?

There is no way you would be 30 minutes away from those conveniences in east Norman. Try 15, tops.

If you are thinking of moving to the rural area to the east of Norman you might be that far away from a Walmart. What are the street names in the area you are considering?

Norman to Shawnee is 30 miles. So at most you'd be 15 miles away from the towns. A more precise area would be nice to know though.
